Gene Peterson, a long-time farmer, jokester and chatterbox passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the age of 75.

Gene is survived by his wife, Deloris (Senger) Peterson; his children, Susan Ackerman (Mark) and Shelly Foster (Sam); his grandchildren, Haley, Kyley, Blake, Caitlin and Courtney; and his siblings, Dennis Peterson (Grace) and Deloris (Peterson) Shimer.

Gene was born in Minneapolis on August 27, 1942 to Harriet (Titterud) Peterson and Chester Peterson. He was raised in Ham Lake and graduated from Anoka High School; working as a farmer, and for the past two years he liked to say that he daylighted as a semi-professional cribbage player. On September 7, 1963, he married Deloris, the woman he’s been in love with since he was 16 years old. On August 17, 1964 and October 3, 1966, he welcomed his two beautiful daughters, who were the second most important part of his life (his grandchildren took the lead in 1995).

Gene was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed playing cribbage with his friends, putting a smile on his loved one’s faces with his non-stop jokes, and bragging about his grandchildren to anyone who would lend him their ears. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 4 at Kozlak-Radulovich Funeral Chapel in Blaine. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on December 5 at Glen Cary Lutheran Church in Ham Lake with visitation starting at 10 a.m.
